We took off for Rockport for a few days– we stayed at the Ocean House at Bass Rocks which might be in Gloucester– my GPS said Rockport. We stayed there years ago– the good is that it is literally right on the ocean, the picture above was taken from our room. The bad is that it’s a motel-ish type of place and I really dislike Motels. If my room is within 10 feet of my car I’m staying in a garage.
BUT we discovered that they have rooms that are in the main building, which is a former mansion– and they are suites not rooms– here’s ours, and this is a bad photo because we had windows on three sides of the room and it doesn’t look that way in the pic.

My plan was to bring some things to work on, some things to read, and maybe even write a couple of scripts.
Yeah I didn’t do ANY of that. The weather did not co-operate. The ride up was great, top down, very scenic. The first day was cold, maybe 55– I only packed one pair of socks because I planned on wearing my sockless boat shoes or my mexican slip on shoes– perfect for hot weather because the no socks keeps your feet cool and sorry folks I wouldn’t be caught dead in a pair of sandals or shorts.
But it didn’t matter- because a stormy day with an extreme ocean view is fantastic– we still opened the windows to let the sea air in. We drove into Rockport downtown where Veronica found a dress shop called QUEENS (I think) and I found a fantastic coffee spot with some of the best Donuts I’ve ever had at Brothers Brew.
The weather only got colder and wetter but it was one of the best times I’ve ever had. A nice way to spend Veronica’s birthday week.
