BIG BOY LIVES

We had a BIG BOY up here a long time ago— I wasn’t shocked when it went under— if I’m being honest it wasn’t very good. A few years ago in an area of Chicago that had ZERO breakfast options I noticed a DENNYS ™ that had just been renovated and in desperation I went in to get a simple breakfast— and it was really good! In fact on a later visits I dubbed the pancakes some of the best I’d ever had— light and fluffy and nice and golden brown.

BIG BOY I remember had burgers and a salad bar— the burgers were a lot like McDONALD’S ™ — dry and smallish— now faithful readers will know I prefer small portions so that should be an issue right?

Absolutely.

Nostalgia is a funny thing- the years go by and you start to have fond memories of places. The Yankee Doodle Diner on the Yale Campus, the 2ND Avenue Deli— and BIG BOY— well I discovered there are still a few around and the original in Burbank California is still going strong since opening in 1949.

They’ve also got an online store and while you can’t order a burger like you can a Grey’s Papaya Hot Dog you can get cool things like Big Boy Banks, mugs, shirts etc.

CHECK IT OUT HERE— BIg BOY lives!
