I do my share of comic conventions, HEROES CON in Charlotte North Carolina is one of the biggest, although I usually attend as an artist this year I’m helping out Team ROBO PICTO who has a really amazing booth location and they’re expecting good sales.
We left Tuesday at about 3pm and after some truly treacherous weather with bling out conditions due to early Summer Rain and Thundershowers we arrived about Midnight at the home of some of our favorite relatives who graciously gave us a private apartment spaced filled with coffee and snacks, and even put the beds down for us. We got a good night sleep and then had a wonderful breakfast with the whole family before leaving for the second half of the trip.
The second half of the trip was shorter than the first but everytime we stopped for fuel, food or bathrooms I feel like the GPS recalculated us back to the four hour arrival mark.
We were scheduled to get in at 4pm and with some traffic we ended up pulling into the convention center at 6pm. Load out was extremely labor intensive as we hauled carts and dollies full of comic boxes and display supplies up a very steep ramp into the show– it was actually a nice bit of exercise after sitting for so long.
By 8pm we checked into the hotel a few blocks away and caught up on all of the emails we’d missed. Three Freelance projects came in over the past few days so I have to do some scheduling for the later half of 2025 into 2026 and possibly 2027.
Things are good.
