Raven & Associates Law Firm Scam Alert.

Came back from Rochester to a letter from Raven & Associates Law Firm out of Ontario.

Essentially I have a late beloved Uncle Marcus who was a very successful stockbroker and Precious Stone Dealer– and a retired CPA. He died clutching $11 plus million with no instructions on who to leave it to other than making it POD (payable on Death in case you don’t know.

All right- I could go through and write witicisms and make fun of a lot of what this is about including a vow that this entire transaction will be handled with the utmost professionalism– and in return the attorney only wants to keep 45% of the dough for themselves– for the record 45% to me with 10% going to Charity, but like you if you’ve found this post– you want to make sure that the .01% possibility that this might be legit is worth looking into.

SPOILER ALERT: It isn’t.

The letter is basically an old school version of the African Prince email we’ve all gotten, but the twist is that it’s a paper letter– but let’s go through in case you get one too.

Things to look for;

  • The lawfirm is in Canada
  • For some reason “Date: Toronto July 4, 2025”
  • The email is a gmail account, with a second CC email that is connected closer to what you’d expect an attorney’s email to be– in my case enquiry @ravenlawfLrm.com << I guess “ravenlawfirm.com” wasn’t available.
  • The letter is xeroxed because every other letter I’ve ever gotten from any actual law firm is basically embossed– this one looks like it might be a fourth generation Xerox.
  • It’s signed like this;

Okay that look’s like a possible illegible signature all fancy lawyers have, so why is this important? Because when I took two minutes to look online I found a very similar letter sent to someone else with a different attorney but the SAME signature;

So if that doesn’t end the process I don’t know what would. I like how that first letter doesn’t look like a P or a J so I’m sure there are other versions out there.

Do not respond to the letter, do not provide any information.

I’m sorry to break it to you– it’s a scam.
