DICK TRACY’S DILEMMA (1947 – RKO Pictures)

Ian Keith returns as Vitamin Flinthart and so does Lyle Lattel as Dick Tracy’s right hand man, Pat Patton, but Morgan Conway is out and the man who played Tracy in all of those serials is in– Ralph Byrd takes over with this installment.

I’m in the minority that I think Conway was a better Tracy–he had the square jaw and a face that looked like it could take a punch- I understand if you’re a fan who has some nostalgia for Byrd in the Tracy Serials but as I said back in teh first Tracy Feature Review I found those serials incredibly boring.

We’ve got some nice extra characters including character actor Jimmy Conlin as the phony blind begger Sightless who keeps watch on things from his vantage point outside the shady bar called THE BLINKING SKULL where he gets a look at our villain, THE CLAW, played by longtime western B-Actor Jack Lambert as the one armed killer with a hook hand.

Byrd is a lesser Tracy– there I said it, but the movie is still fun.
