I have friends who enjoyed going back to school in the Fall, so many in fact that I think I was in the minority when I was filled with dread at the start of a new school year. This ended when I hit High School — I don’t know if it was the fact by that point I had a job and worked full time during the Summer– and was happy to drop back down to part time levels, or I finally figured out how to be successful in class; Pay attention– take notes which reflect not what the Teacher is saying but YOUR understanding of what they’re saying and if you don’t understand what that is– ASK a question.
When our kids were little I took care of them through the Summer since I worked from home. I hope I took some time off, and I remember doing so, but at the very least we made fun lunches, we got to spend more time together and I was sad when they had to go back to school.
September is a strange month– the chill of Fall is in the air, especially at night. This year they’re predicted a very warm Fall for us, and we’ll see if that’s true. They’re also predicting a very snowy winter for us, and I certainly hope that’s wrong.
But it comes and we deal with it.
