Catching Up after a busy Weekend

Over the weekend I helped out at Mass Mini Con– and the show ate up my weekend from 8am-9pm each day– so while I would occasionally glance at my email I wasn’t able to do much responding.

Last week, paying my Quarterly Taxes I realized I was out of checks for the bank account that holds those funds, so I had to do some juggling paying with a different account (THAT is going to screw me up at Tax Time) and then ordering another set of checks and finally writing a check from the tax account to the account I borrowed from to replace the funds. Wow, it should not be this complicated. Bank Transfers are a good thing– but they aren’t instant, so you need to plan ahead about 10 days to make it work. Like I told the Bank Officer who called me early one morning to see if they could do anything for me (I’m not making that up) my relationship with his bank was not monogamous– I have accounts at 6 different banks, all for different reasons, all earning different levels of interest, and all I keep track of in my head. Very dangerous.

Anyway when I got up Monday morning to get to work I found I had about 4 hours worth of Operations Issues to deal with, client invoices, project requests, scheduling checks (I just had a major publisher come to me for the third time to see if I could do a project with them and once again I’m booked up for 2025 so we’ll have to talk next year)- as well as sending some proofs for Veronica for a book cover project she’s doing. All the messy details of being a freelancer.

I still managed to get a full days work in on my current assignment although I worked until about 830pm but overall a decent Monday. The lawn is a mess, that’s going to have to wait until Saturday.

Coming up- I have Comic Bash in Nashua on October 4th and potentially Baltimore Comic Con on the 19th of the same month.

Busy times.
