HORROR ISLAND (1940)

Back in the 40s movie theaters had A pictures and B pictures– an A picture might be a Bob Hope comedy or a musical with Fred Astaire- the evening would also include cartoons, newsreels, serials and then the B picture– essentially a lesser film usually running an hour long. Some of these B pictures can be pretty fun.

HORROR ISLAND falls into that category. It might be scary to a four year old but its essentially an old dark house type of story that takes place on an island which is either loaded with treasure or haunted– and maybe both.

It’s got an endearing cast, it’s fast paced and its a harmless little comedy that will keep you entertained.

It’s often shown on TCM and its available on DVD-R from Amazon.
