Okay so leather holsters are more comfortable but they don’t have the locking mechanism plastic holsters do– well you can get a nice leather holster with a thumb break– simply put your gun goes in the holster and then a piece of leather goes up and over and snaps it into place. It holds the pistol in place, but it does add about a second to the process if you do need to draw your weapon and in a confrontation seconds count.
I do use a thumb break holster during the Summer to carry my Sig Sauer P232 pistol. It’s a very popular pistol among collectors, I own two of them, one in silver and one in black. These are perfect for Summer because they are small and light and extremely reliable.

The pistol is so popular that every time I take it to the range the stranger next to me strikes up a conversation about it. I usually let the person try it to and that’s when you really understand it– it’s so accurate you barely have to center yourself.
For the cooler months my EDC (every day carry) is a Beretta FS92– I love this one so much I bought a second one when they were no longer going to be produced in Italy.

The Beretta 92FS might be the most beautiful handgun in the world. Sleek lines, exposed barrel and nearly perfect operations it’s no wonder those in the know call it “an Italian Masterpiece”. No slight to the version now made in the states– I just wanted the original. Veronica loved this pistol so much she bought her own (she also owns a much smaller Walther PPK– the James Bond gun).
The Beretta is what they call Full Sized– so it’s big. Hard to conceal in the warmer months but there is no arguing the fire power. If you were lucky enough to have bought some 15 round magazines before they were banned here in MA people’s Republic and you carry two extra magazines you have 45 rounds of extremely accurate 9mm ammunition on you for whatever situation goes down. You’re guaranteed to walk away from a fire fight with this beauty on your side. This was carried by the United States Marine Corps for some 40+ years before switching back to the 1911s which are .45 automatics.
So as the cooler weather approached I went through my massive drawer of holsters and didn’t like any of them, so I did some research and enter this one from Urban Carry ™ —

So you say, what’s the deal– it looks like the other leather one– nay nay– this one has a locking mechanism like the Kytek ones but wrapped around the technology is a soft supple high quality leather– and its hard to see but the back of the holster extends up so the pistol itself is never rubbing up against you. It’s also got a nice cant to it– which simply means it sits slightly leaning upwards so it’s easier to draw when you need it.
Top quality, locking mechanism and extreme comfort– this might be the final holster I need.
But don’t count on it.
