You know the routine, right? You decide your cable or satellite bill at $264/mo is too much so you opt to cut those ties and now what? Well, for many of us we either have Smart TVs which already has some streaming services built in, or you go out and by an Amazon Fire Stick or a Roku device.
I’ve gone the Roku device for about 15 years now, and for the most part I’ve been extremely happy with it. At my old house near College Hill I was able to pick up over the air channels using a simple indoor antenna. My new house high up on Indian Hill? Can’t get squat with an antenna. So if I want to watch local channels or more importantly MeTV ™ because I like classic TV and Svengoolie on Saturday nights. In the Fall I like to watch College Football which is probably the biggest challenge without some kind of subscription service.
In other words your needs are going to decide if cutting the Cable is the smart choice– and how much can you deal with or without?
I already had Amazon Prime ™ — I’ve been a Prime ™ member for about 20 years because I like the free fast shipping. A bonus is that Prime ™ has built in streaming which offers a lot of stuff including some Pro Football on certain nights.
Which brings us to FRNDLY TV — it’s about $100 a year if you pay the whole bill up front and it gives you MeTV ™ as well as the sub channel which features classic cartoons. It’s also got Hallmark ™ and Lifetime ™ which I’ve never watched but a big bonus for me is that it has REELZ ™ which offers the latest incarnation of LIVE PD which Fox cancelled back during the George Floyd hysteria which lead to a lot of anti-police policies. FRNDLY TV also gives you a DVR Service which allows you to record programs and then watch them when you can. This means I can watch a week’s worth of recordings while I’m working during the week.
FRNDLY TV works for me and you can give it a free trial to see if it works for you.
