Da Snow.. 2026 Edition

Last year we got a small to medium amount of snow– I don’t want to look up the numbers because that would throw accuracy into my blog and I don’t think the algorythm could handle it. But that’s how it felt– it felt like I shoveled a couple of times and I do remember the first substantial snow was heavy and wet and so was the last one with an ice storm in between because I remember desperately driving around looking for Ice Melt for myself and my neighbors.

This year, and I’m writing this on January 31st in my Gorilla Suit* I would rate the snow so far as Horrid/Wretched although fluffy. We had a storm last weekend (so that would put it around the 24th) that dumped about two feet of snow on us giving me a snow drift that topped four and a half feet at my front door and continued a perfect slope down my stairs and down my hill. I literally was chest deep digging out from that one– but again fluffy and light. But two feet of fluffy and light snow is still a chore– and did I mention it was brutally cold?

Normally I work up a pretty good sweat shoveling so I’ll wear just a windbreaker and gloves, this time around I had the heavy duty gloves and an actualy winter jacket as I foraged my way through it. Number Two son was kind enough to show up to help and that really made a big difference.

By the time you read this winter is half over (officially Feb 1st) the Ground Hog did or didn’t see his shadow and we may have gotten pummeled a couple more times for all I know. Or maybe this Polar Vortex ™ we’re suffering from broke and it’s now in the mid 60s and we’re all laughing at what a nice winter it ended up being.

Those of you with a time machine reach back and let me know.
