What is the Point?

Professor: Write me a paragraph on why you write a blog everyday.

Me: …

Uh, yeah, so why? For me I think it’s a habit. I’d like it to solely be work related showing techniques and the challenges of navigating freelance but because everything I work on requires an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) by the time it’s out and I can talk about it I’m long on to something else and I forgot to take progress pitchers of da other project.

So the cycle repeats and instead you get this; nonsense.

Sometimes entertaining nonsense, mostly just nonsense. Stream of conciousness, complaints about the clocks changing.

Maybe I should have taken philosophy as a major in college, the degree is just as valuable as an art degree and I could have pontificated on things like “Is the world really worse or is it just nostalgia that makes it seem like 30 years ago was better?”

I do know the age of 24 hours news was a step down. Now we have “Breaking News” every 10 mins which is impossible, and screen time that must be filled by talking head experts who seem to get everthing wrong.

Let’s talk about Puxatawny Phil for a minute shall we? I was going to post a graphic image of a dead groundhog because I think that’s how we should change the tradition.

If good ol’ Phil doesn’t see his shadow and predicts and early spring then we give him a carrot or whatever a ground hog likes and we send him on his way. If however, he see’s his shadow we beat him to death with a shovel right there on live TV.

Phil predicted six more weeks of Winter back on Feb 2nd (or whatever day it was) and just over four weeks later I’m driving my car with the top down. Big miss Phil.

I think we should also fire every member of Congress. Legendary corruption politician (do we need the adjective?) Barney Frank once suggested that term limits would give us a mediocre Congress. Congressman Ed Crane replied that US Voters would consider a mediocre Congress a vast improvement.

Stop the clock change. The airline industry lobbies against having it get dark later while the golf industry lobbies against having it get dark earlier so it sits in stale mate. Put it to a vote of the American People the next Nov election and then make it a law the following day– end of discussion. Lobbiests are the problem, you the voter who doesn’t pay attention are part of the problem too. If you don’t pay attention please don’t vote. This isn’t a “Best Fish and Chips” in Central MA contest, know the facts and vote accordingly. We currently have a governor who when faced with a major tax surplus was asked if the money would go back to the taxpayers and she said no.

Meanwhile in Florida every taxpayer just got a tax refund for the same thing, oh and they eliminated Property Tax too.

It bothers me that here in the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts, birthplace of the American Revolution, that we have blind followers of one party and one party states are always corrupt.

The blog will continue to run until the first week of April, after that, I’m not so sure.
