I’m dumb enough to sign up for newsletters and information that I’m genuinely interested in; then the Honeymoon is over and I want you to go away until it gets to the point that I just unsubscribe and when that doesn’t work I block you.
I’ll call out CARVANA ™ for example but they are far from the worst of the groups– SUBSTACK ™ is bad so too are several firearms related companies and if you are a firearm company and I don’t want you bothering me there is something seriously wrong with your marketing.
How many emails is too many emails?
More than one a week, and I’ll be honest with you, that might be too much. Maybe change it up– send me a once a week email with a joke in it– ending with “just wanted to remind you that at some point for some reason you want to hear from us– sorry to bother you.”
CARVANA ™ is sending me 3-4 per DAY. Do you think I have forgotten I looked at your cars? Do you think I’m somehow sitting here in my underwear covered in Cheetos ™ shavings, dozing off and forgetting I’m going to need a new car soon and going to the dealership to buy a car is only slightly less fun than going to a dentist for quadruple root canals.
I’ve been unsubscribing faster than they can send them.
