Spring is Here

My fellow New Englanders

Welcome to Spring. I know it’s been a long and hard fought Winter, this year will go down in the record books as one of the worst. I remember reading that back in November of last year and thinking “Boy I hope they’re wrong!”. But we are nearing the end.

Does it mean we might still get snow?

Very likely– but the Earth has shifted so that the Sun hits us smack in the face during the day so most of what falls melts nearly right away. Pretty soon I’ll be able to do one of my favorite activities of early Spring– I take a big outside broom and I sweep off all the decks, and the walkways and send a plume of salt and sand out into the street for the street sweepers to come and whisk away.

This year I’m going to powerwash the house and the deck, another favorite of mine. It’s noisy as hell but watching the grime disappear is so satisfyingly fun that it’s well worth it– and since all of my neighbors are constantly either snow blowing, leaf blowing or lawn mowing the noise will just fit right in.

Days away from this horrible season going away once and for all.
