Overheard at the Comic Shop

There are a lot of really great comic shops in the Northeast, Wonderland Comics in Putnam, CT, Friar Tucks in Brookline, That’s Entertainment in the Woo might be a fragment of it’s former glory days but if you can get past the still standing Scamdemic walls and the ultra woke feel of the place it does sell comics. I’d recommend thier Fitchburg location much more highly as family friendly. I personally like HALL OF COMICS in Westboro, friendly staff, super clean store and absolutely ZERO politics. My kind of store.

Recently I stopped in on a Saturday to pickup my pull list and while I was browsing a guy probably a couple years younger than me walked in with a crumpled brown paper bag. He walked up to the counter and asked if they bought comics. The gentleman working the counter was very professional and said he was happy to look at what he had brought in.

I didn’t see the books, but from the wrinkled crumpled brown bag I assumed they weren’t in the best condition.

“I didn’t know if they had any value.” The prospective seller said.

The shop guy looked through them and passed, saying they really had no value so they wouldn’t be interested.

“Really? I saw online the book on top selling for like $50.”

“Yeah, maybe in better condition. These are really low grade copies.”

“Oh well. I had hoped they’d be worth something.”

“Well, at least you had fun reading them.”

“You know, I didn’t. I didn’t even read them. I just threw them in the bag when I’d get them.”

The shop guy just kind of stood there, little more to say. He blinked several times, I struggled to contain my laughter.
