EVENT: WAM AT NIGHT
Image is from the next scheduled WAM AT NIGHT on October 4th
WAM AT NIGHT is an ongoing series at the Worcester Art Museum- the idea is to attract people who might not be able to make it to the typical 10-4 hours of the museum— plus there’s the added bonus of the Amazing lighting at the Museum which transforms after dark.
We arrived right at the opening time of 7 and came in through the Renaissance Court which was decorated with standing bar tables, a great quartet of musicians who I think were local legend Mauro DePasquale but I never got a chance to check. We opted to start with a couple of drinks, Veronica got something tropical with pineapple in it and I got my usual Gin and Tonic— we took up a spot at one of the standing tables and listened to the music for a bit before running into WAM Director Matthias Waschek who we haven’t seen in years so it was nice catching up with him.
After that, we ran into some more good friends and then decided, after some amazing appetizers which ended up taking the place of dinner we were going to have we went to the Japanese Print Exhibit Reflections of a Changing Japan: The Evolution of Shin Hanga - which was an exhibit we missed by days when we were in Japan so it was great to find it here in our backyard.
It didn’t disappoint and with the recommendation of yet more friends we ran into we wandered into the Tapestry exhibit From the Vault: Collecting Tapestries at the Worcester Art Museum which was also stunning. We ran into WAM Director Emeritus Jim Welu who is an old and dear friend and spent more time than we should have catching up== the poor guy never gets to eat at these events.
A fun time and we’ll be back for the next one.
Highly recommended.
