There’s morning coffee and there’s afternoon coffee and never the two shall meet. I like my morning coffee on the light side with cream, hot, I drink it in smallish 6oz mugs because I don’t like it when it gets lukewarm or cold.
I drink a San Francisco Arabica blend light roast– so more what you might call a breakfast blend.
Usually around 4pm I have my afternoon coffee– in the past I’ve gone to a couple of different cafes- Bedlam Book, Gerardo’s Italian Bakery– where I would get a Cappuccino with frothed milk. It’s a richer bolder coffee, done right its nice and hot and super fresh.
In Spring I like to buy something I shouldn’t be spending money on, two years ago it was a brand new Miata this year I went with this;

So I decided instead of paying $3 for a cup about 3-4 days a week ($624/year) I’d buy my own machine– I had been deterred because it looked like a lot of work, well as it arrived and my wife said “I hope this isn’t another bread maker” More on that later— I’m happy to say after a few stumbles it’s actually very easy to make a great cup.

This is the coffee I chose– I was familiar with illy brand and this is a good Italian blend.
Now the first day I used it things didn’t go so well. I opened the high pressure can very gently as advised and a fine explosion of coffee grounds hit me in the face and over most of the kitchen. I cleaned that up and ran the machine making a nice fresh cup of Cappuccino. When I went to froth the milk, well that was another story– like the coffee it went everywhere and I rushed to clean it up– Veronica had already had a pretty hard laugh after witnessing the coffee mess.
I ended up buying a frothing container for $6 on Amazon and that’s solved the problem completely.
Now this makes a perfect cup and I can’t wait until 4pm to enjoy it.
