Corgi Does it Again!

Last year Corgi Toys did a re-release of their classic 1966 style Batmobile and it was a perfect reproduction of one of the biggest sellers the die cast toy company has ever had.

Prior to the Batmobile the biggest selling car they produced was James Bond’s Aston Martin from GOLDFINGER– the original version was gold despite the car being silver in the film– the toy maker thought the silver looked too much like raw medal.

The next best car they’ve made (IMO) was The Green Hornet’s BLACK BEAUTY– my sister had this car as a kid and handed it down to me. Unlike the 1966 BATMAN show which I knew from reruns The 1966 Green Hornet show from the same producers only ran one season so it never entered the rerun realm, I only knew the show from his and Bruce Lee’s crossover appearance on the Adam West show and I didn’t find them all that interesting. Since then I’ve obviously seen the GREEN HORNET and it’s a good 60s action show with some great colors but slightly boring characters. The best thing about the show, besides Lee as Kato, is the car.

Well Corgi has done it again and they’ve retooled the Black Beauty in all its glory and preorders are up now.
