Even in 1974 I’d seen enough Marx Bros and Three Stooges films to know that rich people did often do things like hire entertainers to come in for dinner parties– crazy rich people.
This is where it starts to get good, with Batman and Robin invading The Joker’s creepy hideout.
And The Joker falls to his death again. Even though Batman had only been around for 22 months by this point a lot of the established lore is there– Batman who is still a creature of the night but not a buffoonish character nor a psycho as he’s often portrayed today. Robin holds his own but almost always ends up a hostage and there are spooky supernatural elements to the story, to a kid who loved monsters, Batman fit right in!
