Flora in Winter

I was struck by this arrangement so much it is absolutely perfect— it looks like a still life!

Saturday we went to FLORA IN WINTER at the Worcester Art Museum— we ended up renewing our memberships— the last time we did that the Pandemic hit about a week after our only visit and everything shut down, so the membership went right down the toidey. If Dr Fauci comes back and declares another pandemic this year I’ll take full responsibility.

FLORA is a great concept— floral artists from the region “interpret” various paintings in the museum. I used to enjoy taking my classes in to see the exhibit although I’d be the first to admit I hated the massive crowds the event attracted, making leading a group of teens through the crowds a bit of a challenge.

A great example here— in the painting if you look closely you can see flecks of purples and violet in the black area, as well as some real black— the floral artist interprets this with a variety of flowers I especially like the lillies representing the skin tones of the mother and baby and the detail goes right down to the vase which mimics the look of the frame.

Brilliant!

Another really brilliant one— I especially love the way they mimicked the fabric the woman is wearing.

Flora in Winter is on exhibit for a short while, it’s worth seeing.
