I’m curious about folks having a fit over DOGE. I fully endorse auditing the government. Are you aware in Massachusetts the voters overwhelmingly voted to have this done in the last election cycle and YOUR legislators have REFUSED to follow through. Does that not bother you? Is it just that you like having YOUR tax dollars wasted?
I propose to you the idea that if your income is all generated through W2s then you’re victim to a scam. The government collects money from you every week— they take that money and they use it— and at the end of the year they graciously give you a “refund”. It’s not a refund, it’s an interest free loan you give to Uncle Sam. If you took your weekly tax bill every week and put it into a high interest savings account you’d generate some income on YOUR money and then at the end of the year you’d have to write a check to these people who do little more than mishandle your money like I do. It makes you wonder where your money goes, and you have every right to ask that.
I don’t care if it’s “only” $200k we’re spending on some nonsense somewhere— that’s still my money and I want it spent on things that benefit US. Otherwise, give it back. In fact I fully endorse the idea of ending income tax as we had it before WWI and have a national sales tax. THAT would actually be fair because if I’m having a struggling year I can control what I’m spending.
Look closely at these politicians who don’t want to control waste- and ask yourself why you keep voting for them.
